2013 LOST WORLDS CAUSEWAY CROSSING 

 Join us for the Lost Worlds Causeway Crossing – three unique events through a unique landscape – the Giants Causeway Coastline and the Moyle Way. The format of the Lost Worlds series welcomes individuals to take part in a 25k, 50k or 100k event.

The 2013 Lost Worlds Causeway Crossing will take place on Saturday 4 May 2013 with three fantastic events – the Lost Worlds 100k, the Lost Worlds 50k and the Lost Worlds 25k. Other notable locations of the Lost Worlds Series are:- Ometepe, Nicaragua; Tuscany, Italy; Belize Crossing, Belize; Dominica Crossing, Caribbean.

All Lost Worlds Causeway Crossing events will be fully waymarked and will follow the paths, tracks, beaches and coastline of the Moyle Way and Causeway Coast Way - probably one of the most spectacular coastlines in the whole world. The entire route of the 50k and 25k events pass through magnificent coastline scenery with fine views of wide bays, sandy beaches, dramatic cliffs and offshore rocks, all of which characterise the Giants Causeway Causeway Coast, making its beauty and uniqueness world famous. All events will run through the world famous Giants Causeway with the 100k event passing past this famous landmark twice.The 100k route also follows the route of the Moyle Way, along tracks and trails where few feet ever venture and along majestic streams and pathways which will test the fittest participant over the first 50k. 


There will be a high level of support and feed stations en route. Participants in all events will use a timing system for this event and split times and finish times will be available for all participants after crossing the finish line of the event.

100km Event Start Times, Locations & Information

Transport to Start         Bus Departs Sheep Island View Hostel at 0500 hrs

Start Location              Glenariff Car Park

Start Time                    0600 hrs

Route Details               

Follow Moyle Way & Route markings to Ballintoy and then pick up Causeway Coast Way the entire way to the turnaround at Dunluce Castle Car Park. After turning at Dunluce Castle Car Park follow the Causeway Coast Way back to Larrybane Head Quarry.

Drop Bags                   

Competitors are welcome to leave drop bags with event planners and they will be available at the 50k point on the route.

Feed Stations              

There will be feed stations located at the following distances – 16km (Trostan), 24km (Slieveanorra), 50km (Larrybane Head), 60km (Dunsevereick), 75km (Dunluce Turn), 90km (Dunseverick). The feed stations will stock water and fruit cake.

50km Event Start Times, Locations & Information

Route Details               

Follow Causeway Coast Way & Route markings to the turnaround at Dunluce Castle Car Park. After turning at Dunluce Castle Car Park follow the Causeway Coast Way back to Larrybane Head Quarry.   

Feed Stations              

There will be feed stations located at the following distances – 10km (Dunsevereick), 25km (Dunluce Turn), 40km (Dunseverick).The feed stations will stock water and fruit cake.

25km Event Start Times, Locations & Information

Transport to Start         Bus Departs Larrybane Head, Carrick A Rede Car Park, Ballintoy, BT54 6LS at 1445hrs

Start Location               Dunluce Castle Car Park

Start Time                    1530hrs

Route Details               

Follow Causeway Coast Way & Route markings to Larrybane Head Quarry.                       

Feed Stations              

There will be feed stations located at the following distances – 10km (Dunsevereick).The feed station will stock water and fruit cake.

Why not make a weekend out of the race – there are some fantastic restaurants and pubs in the locality and you can enjoy the food and hospitality that is on offer well into the wee hours.
