Firmus Energy Northern Lights
GET READY FOR THE EVENT
The Firmus Energy Northern Lights 10K, 5k and Challenge Walk – Night Edition will take place on Friday the 6th March 2020!
Event registration fee is £20 + online entry fee and includes a beautiful bit of 26 Extreme bling, race bib and timing chip, a fully waymarked course using flashing strobes, marshals throughout the course, music pumping, cake, beer and tea/coffee and some finish line banter… There are also 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes presented at the finish line for the 10k and 5k run.
Starting at the Crescent in Portstewart the route follows the promenade then onto the footpath in the direction of Portrush for 5k before turning and following the coastal trail back to the finish line. The 5k will follow the same course taking a shorted loop at the 2.5k point.
There are also 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes presented at the finish line for the 10k and 5k run.

Participants will be chip-timed by our timing partner JaguarTimingNi. Results will be posted within 24 hours of the race finishing.

Register For This Event
1) How difficult is each event?
It’s very hard actually. It’s far from flat. Without us knowing your level of fitness the answer to this question is difficult but we would say that unless you have put in the training and have the miles in your legs please do not enter a distance option that you know will be out of your league. We have five distance options – choose carefully!
2) Do you have any recommended kit for the event?
Running shoes (trail runners recommended or ordinary runners are not advised) / Walking Boots for the challenge walk or trail running shoes are good, Hydration pack or reusable water bottle, Energy snacks, Windproof top, Hat or Buff. Participants must be aware that weather conditions along the coastline can change and deteriorate rapidly and should bring appropriate clothing to keep them warm in any adverse weather or waiting for a start. It is also essential that all competitors undertake a training programme in the months leading up to this event to ensure the day is as memorable as possible. Your feet might get wet, so prepare for all eventualities.
3) Where is the parking area for the event?
All competitors MUST report to Tollymore Forest Park for registration, kit check, and race briefing. All vehicles can be left at the designated parking area at registration and we would ask that as many people as possible car pool for the event. For those who are being guided by GPS the details for Tollymore Forest Park are – Tollymore Forest Park Bryansford Rd, Newcastle BT33 0PR (Lat: 54.226608, Long -5.922156).
4) Where is the event registration area?
Registration for all events will take place in Tollymore Forest Park. It will be clearly signposted from the parking area. There will be important welcome and safety briefings for all competitors that will cover safety, the latest weather forecast, logistical considerations and other important information.
5) What’s included in my entry fee?
Professionally organised event by 26 Extreme, Public Liability Insurance, Medical Cover, ChampionChip electronic timing system, Race number, Course marking, Manned check points & marshal stations, hydration and feed stations, Buff / Finishers Medal, Prizes for each category, VAT at 20%.
6) Is there anything sent to me in the post before the event?
No, all information and items to include race numbers, timing chip and other information associated with the event will be given to you upon registration on the day of the event.
7) Are there any feed / hydration stations?
There will be hydration / feed stations at various locations these will be approximately every 10km.
8) Where is the best place for my family to see me taking part?
Family and friends are more than welcome to come along to this event to show support. Supporters also add an atmosphere and additional energy to the experience for all the other participants and the crew. The best place for your supporters is at various crossing points within Tollymore Forest. From one vantage point you will be in a position to view competitors two or three times without having to walk any more than 50 meters.
Please note: It is asked that spectators follow the recommendations of the organisers in order to prevent bottle necks and congestion.
9) Can I raise money for Charity?
Yes, we have no problem with participants raising money for charities and other worthwhile causes. We have a series of Charity partners and if you are yet undecided as to what charity you will raise money for please click here
10) Do you have any Rules that I have to adhere to?
The event is open to runners of 18 years of age and over. Participants must ensure they have appropriate footwear, clothing and have access to water and energy food whilst competing. All participants must refer to the recommended kit list. All participants must follow the prescribed course & adhere to the spirit of the event by showing courtesy to other trail users, dropping no litter – we operate a Leave No Trace Policy. If you drop your rubbish you WILL be disqualified. Leaving any gates as found and offering fellow runners who are injured, exhausted or confused, help and support.
11) Will I have to sign a Disclaimer?

12) Can I get a refund if I have to pull out?
Once entered, NO REFUNDS or credits of any kind can be offered for withdrawals from the event. Transfers can be arranged at an administration fee of £10 per entrant, no later than two weeks from close of entries. For full details please see Terms and Conditions.
