We are delighted to bring back one of the most popular and epic events on the 26
Extreme Calendar, the Mourne Way Night edition. The event will have the
original format that saw us transport everyone by bus to the start line of the
traditional Mourne Way 10km event at leitrim Lodge
https://goo.gl/maps/LFB2zTSC3RQ4P2C78 before running home in the dark with
3-400 fellow runners creating one of the most impressive lightshows your likely to
see in the hills.

Parking and Pack Collection

Parking will be in the main café carpark in Kilbroney park and will be clearly signposted on your arrival to Kilbroney forest park. Once parked pack collection will be at the finish gantry in car park. You won’t miss it!

Route conditions

The route is a mix of tarmac, gravel fire road, gravel/turf single track and the usual mud. There is also a shallow river crossing near the start. As the event is taking place in January there could be leaves on the trail making it slippery underfoot in its length as well as possible wintery conditions. Please be prepared for all conditions. Road specific shoes are not recommended for this event.

Way marking

We take way marking seriously, especially at night. The course will be marked with the usual arrows and flags with the addition of fluorescent poles with strobe lights at key locations.

Safety on the Course

The course has been specifically designed with a view to night running and finding your way around it in restricted visibility. The loop format allowed the race to operate in a more confined space with less opportunity to take a wrong turn.  Our adventure team will be located at Key locations in the course to monitor the progress of the race and help at any stage if required. Our crew are all professional qualified with adventure leadership at various levels and hold high levels of first aid.

Post-Race

At the finish line you will receive a finishers Medal, and event Beer from Mourne Mountain Brewery https://www.mournemountainsbrewery.com . The event beer has been specially made for the event with 26 Extreme Branding. If you’re the designated driver you can take yours can home unopened or enjoy it as a post- race refreshment if you have a lift. There will also be plenty of snacks, tea and coffee available also.
